Maui Nui Resiliency Hui (MNRH) is committed to creating a more resilient and equitable future for Maui County by focusing on affordable housing solutions that empower our community members. Our mission is to collaborate, educate, and advocate for housing opportunities that cater to the diverse needs of our residents, particularly targeting very low, low, and moderate-income groups, as well as Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians).
Our Approach to Affordable Housing:
At MNRH, we believe that everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home. To achieve this, we undertake a multi-faceted approach that encompasses education, advocacy, collaboration, and community engagement.
Education & Empowerment
We understand that navigating housing opportunities can be complex. That's why Maui Nui Resiliency Hui is dedicated to providing comprehensive education about housing programs and opportunities to moderate, low-income, and very low-income individuals and families. Through workshops and seminars, we will empower potential housing applicants with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and position themselves for success.
Advocacy & Awareness
Our commitment goes beyond education. MNRH actively engages with local municipalities and developers to drive the development of affordable and workforce housing. We advocate for housing policies that reflect the genuine needs of Maui County residents, ensuring that these policies align with our community's values and aspirations. MNRH diligently researches relevant laws and drafts policies to support increased affordable housing inventory. We work tirelessly to advocate for legislative proposals that contribute to the growth of accessible and attainable housing options for all.
Collaborating for Sustainable Development:
We work hand-in-hand with all stakeholders to create environmentally friendly and place-based residential projects that prioritize community needs. By fostering collaborations, we ensure that housing projects are not only affordable but also sustainable, culturally sensitive, and tailored to the unique character of Maui County.
Community Engagement:
MNRH believes in the power of community involvement. We plan to organize public meetings, bringing together County and State government representatives, private landowners, and community members to collectively address the challenges of affordable housing.
Advocacy starts with awareness. MNRH leverages social media platforms to spread awareness about housing-related issues and advocacy opportunities. By engaging the community through thought-provoking campaigns, we rally support for our cause and drive positive change.
